Last Minute Entry!! WHEW!

My first entry I found out was against submission rules. So out that one went.

For my second entry I had a squirrel that sat still for me a whole 2 seconds, and his tail was ghost-like from the flicking of it. I liked that one and it sat in challenge for several days. I called it "A Ghostly Tail". Get it? LOL...

BUT, while I had an idea for a shot on the Low Key Challenge, I remembered the Veteran's Memorial we have downtown. There they have this gorgeous fountain. Colors of yellow, red, and blue coming from the base. These are the natural colors you see. Not even a brightness/contrast on this or a saturation enhancement. Just as is. I cut the fountain in half in this shot. Unfortunately, the way the fountain is situated you can't get an up shot of it, and surrounding it are really not the best scenic conditions. You either get all of main street which isn't too bad under the right conditions, or you get buildings, etc, which all become distractions when shooting the fountain. If you shoot the memorial complete with the fountain, wall and flags and flame, you can't help but get part of the court house in the background, which is awful as well unless you can edit it out. Can't do that for challenges thought, because it's a major element.

So, I had intended to enter a full shot of the fountain as well as part of main street, but the fountain looked small and out of sorts to the rest of the photo. I took many other shots all at 2 seconds. After cropping this particular one, I really liked the effect. I didn't have to do much to it at all in post process. I showed it to my young son and asked him what he thought. He said "oh, momma, a volcano!"...LOL. Hence, the title.

Enjoy!

Well, the majority rules Philup...LOL. You are a little too little and a little too late with your ehemm...shall I say, critique? Not very helpful by the way.

I would also venture to say that this "bad snapshot"got quite a few nice compliments and some lovely high scores :)

LOL...well, it's not a fast snapshot. It's 2seconds long and I think it is lovely, as does every other who commented. BUT to each his/her own! Thanks for looking!

Thank you jhonan. Coming from you, I find this quite the compliment. I am a border fanatic. LOL....I always like to contain a shot, but sometimes it just doesn't appeal to others. But thanks for the compliments. Much appreciated. :)

Great shot. It was one of my favs of the challenge. I think it was underrated though. I actually thought you had taken this in a steel plant or something! My only minor criticism is the border, which is a bit distracting.

The streaks of water don't look as long / smooth as I would expect for a 2 second exposure, though I could certainly be wrong. A fun shot either way.

Real volcanoes don't look like this, so what is it? Nice color, static composition.
