Funny!

I'm not sure I get it. Is the necessity 'wheels' or is it World War 2 era planes, or just that flying is necessary? It's a nice shot, but I'm confused about the title and the "fear" aspect of it.

OK, the shot made me laugh. As did your interpretation of the challenge as found in the title. Wish the shot wasn't so blue and tan, and that it was a little sharper.

Every thing looks old even the plane. Are you sure you didn't scan this one? Just kidding, too bad the pilot read the sign, or your shot would have been a lot better.

Is that a war plane? Is that the fear? If so, yes. If not, I don't get it. Also, the "wheels" sign detracts... Maybe it's just me. Also, kick up the colors a bit.

funny!

Fear of landing, hmm well I guess.
07/11/2002 01:24:00 PM
not sure what its about

Nice humor, definately a different take on the challenge. Maybe I am having a bad day for grading shots, but this is yet another attempt to "side step" the challenge, in my opinion. This would work as a "sign" shot, captured motion shot, humor in real life shot, scenery shot, reminding pilots to NOT be stupid, but as FEAR??????????????????? a stretch at best. Please join the two mountain goats and the water skier in the next challenge. 4 Swash

what is necessary? sorry I don't make the connection. meeting challenge = 3 photo quality = 3 total = 6

What's necessary? To lower the wheels, or to land? Looks like an old WWII Navy plane, Can't decide if it's a SBD Dauntless, or a F6F Hellcat. Shey.
07/09/2002 11:44:00 AM
what's neccessary? flying?
07/09/2002 10:40:00 AM
Where's the fear???
07/09/2002 12:26:00 AM
It took me a LONG to to figure out that you were "afraid" that pilots might need a sign telling them to lower the landing gear. It would be a better photo if you could have talked a pilot into coming in low without his gear down :) (Yes, I'm kidding) Now that I see it, I'll give you back the points I deducted for missing the challenge... You skirted the challenge, but certainly meet it :)

I had that same fear for the longest time (fear of flying)...wait I still have it. I could also see this as fear of military service...but that's a bit of a stretch. What kind of plane is that? It looks like a Hellcat or a Wildcat to me, maybe even an AT-6 (I'm just guessing) - a closer crop or more zoom on the plane would've been nice I think. Nice job!

excellent work...

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this photo. It's a nice exposure, but I can't be certain what the subject is, the plane, the sign, or the buildings in the background.

LOL.

Fear of flying? :) Good job on leveling the horizon in this shot.. so many people seem to skew that somewhat on shots like this. I would love to see some more contrast between the sky and the ground... i don't know of a polarizer would work on your camera or not but it would probably improve the impact of this photo :) = 6 - jmsetzler

this is a great picture.. but i see nothing to do with fear. It's certainly postcard - show the world - quality... but u lose points b/c I see nothing of fear.
