Greetings from the Critique Club!
Thought this looked familier, I commented during the challenge! This is a nice shot, the yellow does stand out but the focus is immediately drawn to the bug and as a result you might have lost a few points for that when people voted.
A slightly different crop to balance the shot more also might have increased the score just a bit. Other than that and what I already commented on, I'm sorry I don't have much else to add.
Hope my comments have helped and Good Luck in future challenges!

I'll have to take your word for that since there is nothing to compare him too, LOL. I hate these things, they just freak me out for some reason. Nice focus on the bug though but the crop seems to leave the shot just a tad unbalance, not quite on the thirds or centered and the wall has a shadow in the lower left corner that's a bit distracting. A nice shot but nothing to really wow me, maybe a different post process with a different crop could really make this picture stand out. As is a 5 |

Nice use of negative space. Interesting bug. |

Yellow is bright and bold but there is too much 'empty space' that adds nothing to the composition. Minimilistic it maybe but either the colors on the bug would have to really pop off of the background (which in the current state they do not) or a square crop would do better to improve the composition. If I am not mistaken, I think that this particuliar insect has a greenish/yellow cast to it's beetle shell. Bringing out/capturing that color in the beetle (and I think I have seen this bug at museums before and they have this lovely greenish/yellow sheen to them) would really make it a lovely focal point on this vibrant yellow background. |

Two Inch Bugs should be outlawed, ugh. :) I like how there's not a ton of definition on it, but the yellow wall casts enough color to make him kinda glow. |
