WELL, I took shots of kale, and of flowered kale. Thought about wood, and a bunch of other stuff, even close ups of hair. I even thought of going soft like clouds. Loved them all, but I did this one a lot differently for the toy challenge and by the looks of those scores, I should have stayed with it. I did just of the eyes and left it really orange with the blue eyes. It was quite creepy looking and really would have made an impact I think then my soft'ish vintage doll/girl/dog photo did, which seemed to have little to no appeal.
Anyway, in having used this guy before, I did remember the deep crevaces in the body of this 29" toy of my sons. I took a shot of the head only, and enhanced the crevaces even more. Not sure others will like it, but I do!

I don't know why but I like this. It's the eye!!! Great lighting and use of negative space. I like his placement in the shot and the 3/4 profile. Is this a toy??? Mask??? |

I feel that the Thing is the major point of interest and not the texture. The Thing is such a strong image on its own. To really hit the mark on "texture" I guess you have to get up close and personal but of course you might lose something else. Its a fine balance, hope the scoring proves me wrong |
