Why did I enter this shot?

BECAUSE...................

1. The only grasshopper I could catch was on a rerun of "Kung Fu".

2. I already envisioned about 25 frog entries and didn’t want to duplicate.

3. Crickets may jump sometimes, but are ugly and I won't touch one for any virtual ribbon. Although I would eat one for a million bucks.

4. I don't jump, nor do I have my kids jump on command :)

5. Birds don't jump, but I jump at the chance to photograph one.

6. I tried to pay some strangers to jump, and it worked. They jumped me and took all my money.

7. When the cop came I asked HIM to jump for me, but he told me that only others jump, WHEN HE SAYS SO! Ummm, needless to say I moved on to the next idea. I went to a Super Wal-mart for some jumping beans, but……

8. ....since Wal-Mart doesn’t carry them that means they simply must not exist.

9. I asked my 63 year-old mother to jump. So she jumped out of her sick bed and slapped me twice. Once for asking her, and once for asking my 72 year-old father who is strewn with arthritis.

10. I asked my husband if he would jump off a cliff. He replied “Honey, it’s not the fall that bothers me; its that damn sudden stop”.

10. Our local ballet dancers have since turned in their tu tu's for moo moo's.

10. Our one and only local gymnast is FAMOUS though!!!! (Because she just turned 104 years old).

11. Regular beans don't jump either.

12. Parachute jumpers aren’t coming until our July, 2006 Air Show.

13. Did you notice there were three number 10's listed? Yeah, well, I wanted to see a few 10's on this entry, SOMEWHERE!

This is funny. I missed it because I don't enter the challenges anymore. But the halos are there so I would have marked it down. What does the original look like?
Hope you don't mind, but for some reason it reminds me of the line from the three witches in a Shakesphere play, where they say "Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble".

Perhaps if your interpretation of this challenge had not been so literal you may have ranked higher.

Thank you Hotpasta. I really appreciate your comments. I do feel my candid got rooked as well, but hence the world of subjective and public voting.

I also noticed something. I was visiting over the holiday weekend and viewed this shot on someone elses monitor. I was shocked at the difference as her monitor was not calibrated. It showed some of the post processing head on. On mine, it was totally masked and subtle. I think a lot of it has to do with uncalibrated monitors and laptop viewing. On laptops my shots don't look as nice as on my 17" flat screen either. So I think that is how a lot of images get rooked.

Congrats on your ribbon!!!! You're a second place now!!!

OK...looks like I was the only one that gave you a 10...I came third and ribboned, but I was convinced this would be up there on the winner's podium. The expression is priceless and this is a wonderful shot. I wish people were kinder in their voting. You've got some great shots in your portfolio. This is definitely one of them.

Actually, it is called the Skyflyer. Sort of something like a bungee jump without the stairs to climb to get up. One or more can ride it. Some think it is fun. I think you are nutz to do it! :)

Hm, I can't figure out in what situation this image has been taken :) The expressions are well captured, the missing background gives your scene an interesting abstract quality. I'm a bit annoyed by the 'blur' on the shoulders in the middle and the hair on the left. What is that? 8.
