This image was taken on the beach of Baja Mexico. I love to watch the ocean crash into the rocks, causing the water to jump, spray and swirl around them. I took many images trying to catch the largest wave and highest jump.
This was my first B&W conversion in CS2. I converted from RAW, making minor changes in the general features at conversion. I then used the usual Level, Curves, B/C and H/S. Since a storm was coming in, the colors were flat with little tone, so I decided to go for the BW. I used the Channel Separator to tone the photo, using mostly the red channel, then blue and finally a touch of green. I used the selections to enhance specific areas and bring out the tones. There is a slight neon glow to the sky to bring it out. I used USM, sharpen tool and resized the image and saved to the web. |

This is beautiful! This was severly underrated IMO. Granted, the lower portion seems a bit oversharpened but this was still a gorgeous shot that deserved better - MUCH better than 10th from last. I'm guessing a lot of users must have felt it was a stretch to meet the challenge. |

A very nice capture . I would have considered less um as the moss is looking unreal. However, the composition is very nice. Bumping up. |

The contrast on this photo is a little too high for me, and I like contrasty photos. I'm also not completely sure that it fits the challenge. |

This looks really over-sharpened to me. |
