Challenge: Right Angles (Classic Editing)
Camera: Sony DSC-F707
Location: Woking, United Kingdom

Aperture: 2.4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/160

I went out this afternoon at the sole purpose of shooting something for this challenge.
An interesting fountain made of natural stones attracted my attention but, once I got closer, I noticed this very small doll abandoned in the middle of it, remembering me the more abstract angles of a famous song of Annie Lennox.
I just stretched myself on top of it and used the zoom at its full (5x) to exclude myself reflected in the water.
I was also lucky with the position of the yellow leave and the very little fly, which are small but important actors on this stage.

I gave this shot what I thought was a modest 6. I can't believe the voting pattern on this one. Oh well, I think you know that it's good =)

Firstly, thank you to all commenters.

My policy and belief are that every comment is helpful.

Even in this case when the wide majority of comments states (more or less) the same thing: where are the right angles?

This photo has no evident/visible right angle in the geometric sense.
My interpretation of "right angle" was as the contrary of "wrong angle" and I tought that this pic, in its own way, had a very good "right angle", which is why I posted it.
It would be pedantic to re-cast geometrical right angles in this pic although there are a few subtle ones.

Of course, I am heart-broken for the performance of this pic.
Particularly because, in the mean time, I got emotively attached to the replicated destiny of its subject.

My "vengeance" is in posting a pretty boring picture in the next challenge (Desolation), already knowing that it will perform better up to 1 or 2 two points of average, even if it doesn't have half the strength of this one. Then, after that, I will try to mediate between my true style and what is needed to win a ribbon and I am pretty sure that the result will be quite awful though!!! =)

I cannot learn from my mistakes if I don't make them in the first place!

A very special thanks to those few who, somehow, were striken by this picture as I was: I love you! =)

I see no right angles (a right angle is 90 degrees)...

Nice idea and execution. the rule of thirds here would help extend the implied world of the photograph farther and would have added some impace, I feel. Super idea and fantastic lighting.

Sorry, I did not see how this met the challenge.

Wow, this picture is quite disturbing. The dirty doll and the fly...it really sends a feeling of disgust and loss. Over all a very good picture. Unfortunatly not exactly right for this challenge. I see a few right angles, but not enough for the challenge.

I'm trying to find the right angel. However, I believe it's about how it's an angel how one would view something. Intersesting photo though.

Composition is great. Eerie picture, makes you wonder about the story of the doll.

I have left a number of comments this time out, this one begs of it. now I do see angles. and I do see perspective. I like folks that get out of the box. all this gets you a five, I think the image is a little out of focus and the composition does not have good overall light. I know this will strugle to do well but I wish you luck just the same:) 5

You know, I actually like this shot. Not because, by now, I guessed who's photo this is, but this has such a feeling in it. The fly & the leaf are a bonus. The right angle not neccessarily make it stronger photo, but it is a very emotional. And the colour nicely contrasts with the gloominess of the water. Normally I would feel like brightening it, but that would take away from the whole feeling of it. If you don't mind, I will add it to my favourites after the challenge is over.

I do not know how this relates to the challenge, however I like it. It struck me immediately.

Nice use of creative photograhy, but I think this would be better placed in the "desolation" contest. Don't get the "right angles" in this image. Sorry

this would be good for the desolation challenge ;). The fly on the head is really dramatic.

This is a very funny shot, thanks for the giggle, I am struggling a little to see the right angle, but this is the most forlorn looking doll i have ever seen.

"Create a photograph where right angles produce the strength of the image." I don't see it.

You get lots of points for a disturbingly odd photo - I mean that, this is very affecting. You lose some unfortunately because I don't see any relevance to the challenge
