Challenge: Candid III (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Sony Mavica CD300
Location: Brentwood, TN
Date: Apr 8, 2006
Galleries: Family, Candid
Date Uploaded: Apr 11, 2006

My small cousin was bored and hungry as we waited all day for our cousin Marc's wedding to start. He had been fed up with the formal photographer's pictures (which seemed to him to last forever!). We were in the lobby and I thought this was a great opportunity!

He HATES having his picture made! I did not crop this photo at all. Basic editing only.

candid?

I'm not much for receiving or giving comments, but since Candids are
near and dear to my heart, I have decided to give comment on every entry
in this challenge.

This is a b/w portrait, and nothing close to a portrait I'm afraid. Good tones though, and nice lighting as well as focus.

I love the look in his eyes - it makes a nice portrait, but I don't get the same feeling of spontaneity and mood as I do from some other submissions.

This looks posed.

stunning, interesting composition

How do you define this as candid, I wonder? It's a nice enough facial shot, spare a touch of cross-eyedness and subtle lack of sharpness, but why this challenge?

Sorry, is it a portrait a candid moment? Nice picture

I am going to err on your side on a little issue that I have with the focus on this image. to me the focus point...on the eyes...is a little soft... I like the natural light from the big window. composition is good but I would have gone even more extreame on the crop (but that is just me) DOF and lens choice is good. 7.5 call it 8

Actually I would categorize this as the diametric opposite of your title - he seems intent and serious beyond his years to me. Nice portrait, but it lacks the candid feel, regardless of the actuality of the situation.

Very serious expression. Not sure how much it says "innocence" though.

If he's posing, it ain't candid...!
