PS crop, levels, curves, a lot of masking with curves and hue sat to adjust color of eyes and skin. Gaussian blur on skin, and healing brush to remove moles and blemishes, and some mild cloning. NI, and some selective sharpening, esp on tear. Also desaturated the tear. Used some shallots for the tears. Thank You to my Beautiful Wife for posing!

Hi from the Critique Club.

Feel free to PM me with any question or comments. Hopefully i can offer you a few thing to consider.

First: Portraits and especially studio portraiture is not an area of strength for me so my comments should taken in that context.

Composition: Great job on the placement of your model/wife in the frame. The tight cropping at the top, the tilt of the head and the placement of the rose all are very effective. The little piece of shoulder?? showing just below the hair is a minor distraction.

LIghting: Again, a good job in my eyes. Catchlights are nice and detail on the hair and accross the face is also good. Possibly a little more shadow on the model's right side of face would have given the pic a more romantic feel.

Focus on the eyes is good. Several other parts look a little soft but i believe that is an acceptable characteristic of portraiture.

Picture seems to have a touch too much red. This may be a problem with my monitor.

Finally: The tears are a great idea. Post processing is maybe a little too obvious for some and this was the likely reason for a lower score, as some of the other commentators alluded to.

Keep shooting
mark

Composition is good but the light is very contrasty and the skin tone is a bit unnatural.

The post processing on the softness of her skin is too evident here IMHO, still a good idea. 7

interesting.
the flower really adds a lot here.

My only complain is the cropping, I think it's a bit too much cropped on the face

The blur elements to the skin are uneven and much too obvious. When I touch up like this, I usually reintroduce a little noise to mimic the surrounding skin texture.

Something seems strange about this photo, her nose, chin and cheeks are all out of focus which don't seem to be on the same plane.

Yes. Everytime I am heartbroken, I take up a rose and cry. :)
Like the tone of the hair, and the texture of the rose.
