::: Greetings from Critique Club :::
Hi, as requested, here is an indepth critique of your submission.
First Impression - the most important one:
Nice portrait very well shot, but for some reason the focus ends up VERY soft.
Composition:
Decent, although I believe shifting the model's head further to the left of the frame would have been a stronger composition.
Subject:
Subject is well isolated from the background.
Technical (Color, focus, and light):
Focus: As I said ealier it is very soft - Not sure if it's from too muc h noise reduction or from a soft filter or what is causing it, but looks like it was introduced in PP.
Color: Very nice, seems very natural.
Light: Also very nice and very natural, although I'm not real fond of the shadow on the right side of the nose.
To grow its vote?:
Focus. I really belive the softness of this image hurt you a lot. Otherwise, it is a very strong piece. I still believe the softness was introduced in PP, try to clear up that issue and you're in the game :-)
Summary:
Overall, you've displayed a good understanding of portrait photography, a glaring technical issue beat ya down though.
Hope to see more from you soon,

Great shot. I love the background on this portrait, it really accentuates her eyes. The softness also add to this image. Good luck! |

Nice, although I am not usually fond of soft focus. I'd love to see what this looks like sharper. |

I like the softness, the colors, the DOF, the subject, the lighting. I find the border distracting. I am curious to see if others are looking for a sharper image. For me, this works well. 9. |

IMHO I would have liked to see the entire face in focus rather than just the eyes. |

too much blur, and the lighting could have been brighter.
lovely smile nonetheless |

Even though it is a little too soft, I#m giving a 7 as I love the idea, colours, lighting & composition |

I would like to see her smile more in focus. The rest of the blurring is fine with the fan and shirt and the softness of the hair, but her entire face should be crisp. |

Nice lighting. Lovely model. I find the fan distracting. Maybe if it were lower in the shot, but it covers her chin and part of her lips, which I think detracts from the overall shot's effectiveness. |
