Thanks for all the comments. I also felt the focus was a bit off, but I sort of liked how it softened the colors (and the other angles I shot didn't have the same feel). |

I like the soft focus on the background. It has unfortunately crept into your subjects a bit too. |

Nice idea, good framing and nice use of shallow DOF... but, the focus just seems a bit off, which weakens the over all impact. |

Good idea for a study in contrasts here. Bit lacking in the crispness of both the old and new blooms to truly do it justice. |

Indeed it does. Needs just a little more depth of field on the flower and the two ends of this picture could just be lopped off. There's quite a nice idea with the thrusting new bloom, but I don't think this picture succeeds in graphically supporting the text of the title. |
