An emotionally charged portrayal of desolation which, for me, is let down by lighting and poor image quality. I'd also like it without the bag at the front obscuring part of her hand and cup - of course I appreciate that this is a candid and that you probably couldn't do anything about that - I'm talking simply about what would make the image stronger for me.

There are so many shades and textures in this picture. I love it.

I like this picture. I would get closer on the old woman's face because her expression says helpless and loneliness.

there is a real lack of clarity from the old woman's hand all the way left...I guess that you wanted to save the cup but, in my opinion, the face, the light on the shoulder, the textures would all stand out more with a crop

Thank goodness for photos of the homeless to keep reminding us to care. Good choice of subject (woman).

This shot makes me uncomfortable for two reasons:
1: Street beggars make me feel guilty if I walk past and don't give anything!
2: I feel like the photographer has exploited the woman's condition... or people who are in that condition. There's something about the shot that brings out a feeling of pity rather than a feeling of empathy. It's hard to put my finger on why... maybe it's the chemistry between the subject and the photographer. There is certainly a look of desperation on her face but (and maybe it's got something to do with the fact that we are being asked to empathise with the owner of the bag who is exiting to our left) there is in my mind a seperation between ourselves and that feeling. Interesting shot though, and I like the sharpness in her face contrasted with the motion blur of her cup. 8

I really feel the emotion of desolation on this shot. I can't take my eyes of her face. The color has a bit of a green feel to it that I don't care for but thats my only nit pick.

Great Job, your photograph captures the topic like none other. Do I dare and give this my first and only perfect score? The answer is yes, it deserves a 10, good luck in this challenge.
