the only think i wasn't happy with was that it wasn't as sharp as when you're just looking through the scope - if i can find the hardware (which i KNOW i have somewhere), i'll reshoot this setup with eyepiece projection - i'm pretty sure that will bring it in nice & crispy --- and to those of you who would like to see more of the moon, sorry but there was no moon cropped out of this - yup, it's a BIG lens!

Nicely captured. A little bit grainy -- even in the black, but I'll forgive that. :-) Not a lot to say. I wonder how differnt compositions of this would have looked, but I also like the one you've submitted.
07/21/2002 09:01:00 PM
I wish I could sleep on the moon.
07/21/2002 03:58:00 PM
Not a bad moon shot, not bad at all. I hope you have posted how you took this. If not, it would be appreciated if you would share your equipment setup and technique.

Oh, a really nice moonshot! Quarter moons or so work well and you have done this perfectly. I like it alot and will add it to my favorites.---10

I like this photo a lot. What kind of telephoto setup did you use?
07/20/2002 12:13:00 AM
Nice crop.
07/20/2002 12:03:00 AM
Did you use digital zoom or optical and how much. ive been trying to get this shot for a while but i cant get it to turn out so well.
07/19/2002 06:13:00 PM
Wow, what a lens! I'm impressed. Do you have a telescope adapter? 8 Swash
07/19/2002 04:07:00 PM
you could have adjusted the levels in photoshop or some other program so that the black was true black instead of just very dark grey as it is now.
07/19/2002 01:28:00 AM
I've had no luck photographing the moon -- I guess a long lens and tripod woul help.
07/18/2002 11:39:00 PM
Thats a cool moon shot.
07/18/2002 06:07:00 PM
how in the world did you get this?
07/18/2002 05:32:00 PM
As Langdon would say, the hell kinda zoom you have! Pretty nice.
07/18/2002 02:25:00 PM
There is some color abberation on the right of the moon that should have been easy to fix by desaturating the image to a black and white. Still a cool shot.

07/17/2002 02:29:00 PM

07/17/2002 10:05:00 AM

07/16/2002 06:07:00 PM

07/16/2002 05:20:00 AM

07/16/2002 01:00:00 AM
You must have a really great camera.
07/16/2002 12:39:00 AM
umm.... I didnt know you could use the Huble telescope as your camra !?!?!?!?!?
anyways, I am interested to see how you did this... most likely you took a pic through your telescope? anyways 9 for creativity, I realy wish the black was solid black, you would have gotten 10....
in photoshop your black is anywhere from 262825 to 181818.....
07/16/2002 12:16:00 AM
Nice simple, uncluttered image. Looks like potter...is it? Texture is good...Hey coulda taken it for this week's challenge.

In your face moon shot! Good job, little OOF. Kee
07/15/2002 02:43:00 PM
Technicaly a little to hot on the outer edge, sharpness looks real good, creativity I've seen it before.
07/15/2002 02:37:00 PM
Very technically proficient shot, the detail of this is great. I think that this would only have been better if you could have kept the whole bottom of the moon in the shot. But still, the detail is incredible. I've gotta see what this was taken with.
07/15/2002 02:15:00 PM
And a thin slice it is.
07/15/2002 01:43:00 PM
Amazing clarity and perfect exposure
07/15/2002 01:38:00 PM
Good astro photograph. I can see the effects of high ISO in the dark areas, but there's not much you can do about that in this challenge.
07/15/2002 12:05:00 PM
nice... is this the real thing?
07/15/2002 11:08:00 AM
very nice shot
07/15/2002 08:08:00 AM
Cool!
07/15/2002 05:57:00 AM
Cool. Different.
07/15/2002 01:58:00 AM
Nice moon shot. If you had landed on the moon though... (just kidding)...
07/15/2002 01:22:00 AM
