highlights on glass not very good but...

Thanks for top 10! I really thought the voters were pretty forgiving of my first attempt at lighting glass with my homemade light tent. Next time i'll use some subtractive material to minimize glare.

backlight the paper BG, diffuse a second light to light the fish - while minimizing glare on the glass. use a black border ;}

Nice colors! The lighting coming from the bottom of the glass kind of takes away from the composition.

Title is apt and shows modesty - photo fun too. Nice work.

New take on the glass reflecting theme. The fish makes it. If it weren't basic editing I'd suggest removing the piece of brown stuff under the fish.

An amusing collection, indeed, marred by lacluster lighting and a sense of not-quite-sharp-enough for this sort of shot.

nice, love the colours and the fishy :P

This does have DPC written all over it. Light's a little harsh on bottom right of glass - still an 8 for the setup.

Blown out hightlights around the glass and blurry glass edges take a little away but nice idea and overall nice work.

Good effort but the light refracting through the bottom of the glass is a bit distracting.

now this is the best of the glasses I've seen so far with the fish thats just awesome. this is one of my favorites

Cute! Very nice idea. For this one though I wouldn't have minded a centered crop. Find the right side's reflection on the glass a bit severe when compared to the other side and the blue slide isn't even. But still really like this one. - 7

*I am only commenting, and not voting on this challenge*

How'd you train the fish to stay on the blue side?

Only thing I can see that'll hit you with voters is the light coloring, and reflections on the glass.
SO hard to deal with, but imperative. Deeper, more vibrant color, and smoother, reflection-free (or reflection-muted) glass will garner you a better score.

However, the idea is top-notch, even though it's been done before, never quite like this.

Like this one, would like it even better if the whole image was in focus, but I think it works well for the challenge, and is a lot more unique than the million red and green pepper images submitted for the challenge.

Well titled and well executed. A pretty good job of lighting the fish while keeping the reflections on the glass somewhat under control. Bumping up

4 - Colors are quite good. Not 'clean enough' to be a good refraction shot though in my opinion. Also a little risky doing such a shot here so soon after that other Challenge, unless it is 'special'.

Yes, but with a good dose of creativity thrown in that lifts it up a few points!

Cliched, yes, but VERY cool. The fish (positioned as it is) pushes it out of the realm of the ordinary.

Cliche allright! Still, good idea. The fish is a great focus point, but the light on the bottom right of the glass snatches my attention away. Perhaps with a smaller aperture the depth of field would be increased, and the edges of the glass would be in focus too. A black background behind the camera may have removed the reflections in the glass, and the little something at the bottom of the glass caught my eye (fish food?). Good photo!
