nice shot, but when I see a picture of a Camel, Llama or any animal of that kind I get that hidiously annoying song in my head.. llama llama.....many links to that song on DPC forum, didn't want to find one so I don't have to listen to that song again ;)
composition and lighting is very good, whitebalance is a bit off I think, and it could do with some saturation and sharpening with curves. |

sorry, just realised I missed this one - thought I'd done you after your photojournalism.
I really like this one - very fun. Definitely deserved more than a 4.7 in my book.
The composition is perfect, and the timing/expression great. I think all it needs to really boost its score is some careful postprocessing - a touch more saturation, and Unsharp Mask.
Actually, I found the PP a lot harder than I imagined...here's my attempt, marginally different to yours. Made the most of advanced editing:
messed about with levels manually
darkened yellowy greens with hue/sat and eyedropper on trees, tweaked blue
selected camel, copy into new layer
adjusted levels a bit, upped saturation, applied USM (camel layer)
applied gaussian blur, 0.5px to background layer, darkened b/g layer with levels
Just my take on it, not saying its "better" or even "more dpc", just interesting to see how other people interpret the same image.
PS - interesting to notice, my PS elements gives a different result with auto-levels than what you had.

This is funny, but it does come across a bit snapshotty. Since there's no context, the horizontal line of the trees cutting his head in half is sort of distracting.
All my opinion :) |

hello again,
maybe i spit back. lol.
i liked the guy but i was not so keen on the perspective of the guy there. i like the green trees and blue sky (could have popped a bit more) but you "man" is a bit off.
overall i think it is a great image. i think that the only reason you may have done so poorly is because you probably disgusted the dpcers. i personally think this should have done a bit better than your placement. |

I'm not all that fond of the perspective though it does emphasize the point you make with the title. I think the overall tone of the shot could be helped a bit by de-brightening it, either through curves or maybe contrast? It does make you smile, though! |

I gave a 4 on this one. The colors are a bit flat. The position of the llamas head would have been better if cocked down looking at the camera a bit. A position where you may think he is looking at who he is going to spit at (which would have been you). More of a protrait pose (if you can get a llama to pose for a portrait - lol) would have helped. Also the trees are a distraction. A solid sky background would have been very nice, especially with him being off centered. Selective saturation on him would have made him stand out a bit better as well. |

LOL. This animal reminds me of that old puppet "lambchops" (probably because of the expression). This has a snapshot quality about it, which may account for the score from "all users". A little more composition might have helped. |

Great coloring here and excellent focus, but I think you picked a subject that is a bit too common for a free study. These are the toughest of all challenges to do well in, and I normally avoid them. This one makes me chuckle, and the composition is very nice. I still believe that it should have scored better, and well above a 5, but voters on here are hard to figure out most days. I think you'd have done better if you would have isolated the llama against the sky and left out that tree line that's centered in the frame. |

I would have loved to see more of the animal and the background colours would have benefitted if you hade worked a bit on them. The idea and title are good. |

I like the camel--the low angle captures an important aspect of these beasts. I find the trees in the background distracting. A lower camera angle might have made it possible to eliminate the trees and have the camel appear against the sky. Even this image would be improved by a vertical crop that would get rid of some of the trees, especially those on the left side. |
