Taken at the Georgia Aquarium

This probably won't place to well. First time I have entered a challenge where I had more than two shots to choose from. I really had a bunch to choose from and probably made the wrong choice. Oh well I like it.

Hey James. Ok from my first impression of this image during voting I gave it a 6 but couldn't give it any more than that for the following reasons:
- the colors needs a boost in contrast and saturation to make the blue really pop
- the cut-off tail is a bit of a distraction
- last and most importantly, for this image to really have the wow factor, the whale, a beluga it seems, should have been facing the camera so that eye contact is created between the viewer and the subject

There are dark areas in the photo that is somewhat hard to comprehend and the weight of the image is gravitating towards the top as most of the activity is there.

It's not a bad finish though I expected it to be a bit higher than it placed. Shooting through thick glass is a hard task and nothing to take lightly. I think you've done well however, in a Free Study, impact is critical for high votes and comments.

Good luck man.

Cheers,

Rikki

I don't understand at all why a tail sticking out of the frame detracts from some people's perception of what makes this work..i like it..there is something natural about having this..adds to the movement of the shot..
nice work...

No Gasper that day, huh? I am assuming that the is the Georgia Aquarium, but could be worng. Either way, very nicely done, especially with the lighting conditions you were faced with inside any aquarium. Nice exposure and great composition. One of my favorites in this challenge so far. My only small complaint is that the lone tail at the top of the frame is a bit distracting. Very nice overall.
