Not quite in my backyard, it's about 200 miles away, I was just lucky to have been travelling in that area |

The rocks were placed in the foreground quite deliberately to try to show how the ruin is isolated on a rugged coatline and to give a contrast to the hazy mist that the castle lay in |

It's on the North West coast in the county of Northumberland close to a fishing port called Craster |

I really love this photo, probably because of how much I like castles. But that is not really the only reason I like it. It is cool how the ruins sort of are in a haze in the background it really adds to desolate feel. Thanks for giving it a nice straightforward name. |

The castle which is the subject of the photo is bleached out, comparing to the rocks in the forground. I would move the camera up to cut it out. And maybe try to craete foggy effect from it. That's my suggestion. |

Very successful at giving the feel of desolation. All elements work in this photo. |

I really like how the rocks are sharp and the castle in the background is softer with the fog. Good job...9 |

the rocks are very nice and so is the castle but there is a romantic, fairytale quality that keeps it from being desolate for me |

The rocks in the foreground are somewhat distracting, a closer crop in my opinion would have been better, nice image though and a great subject |

pretty good, too bad there was so much haze on the day the picture was taken. Less haze would give a clearer picutre of the castle. If it was clearer you might have needed to desaturate depending on how 'green' the landscape was. |
