I like the idea and composition. I think that the overall image is too bright, though. IMO, a darker image with bright highlights increases the feeling of "dawn" and is more dramatic.

Some fill light from the front to illuminate the other side of the pieces more would have gotten you another point or two from me.

could be crisper. on a totally untechnical side of things, how does this fit the challenge? are you trying to make chess cliche? title doesnt really fit inmy opinion apart formt he yellow light./...

Nice lighting and angle... I think I would have liked to have seen it a tad sharper though, although its really not bad as it is now... Good luck with the next challenge!

A very interesting illustration of the saying. I wish the dof had one of the pawns pin sharp, but I like the moodiness of the amber lighting.

I would have liked a better depth of field. On the really dark statue in the front appears to be in focus.

I think focusing on a more middle subject in the line vs the front subject would look better...also I wont what it would look like with a diffrent white balance
