great take on the challenge--this book scared me as a kid, a few years later, the movie still freaked me out! :) i love your idea, the lighting is nice and the composition is fantastic. nice work.

I like the way that the shadow falls on the face. Nice job.

I like this. It reminds me of late 50's B horror shows. If that was the intent you captured it pretty well.

Good stuff - especially like the fingers poking through there. Lighting makes it a little flat though, but that's difficult in this situation.

Interesting idea - just a shame the black area at the top draws the eye away from the subject - 6

May have been better without the fingers.

Very good shot. Great creativity. I feel like I've seen this eye somwhere before :-))

I love the texture of the bark and the composition is also strong - that diagonal of dark at the top left works well for me. Of course, the key element is that strong eye contact and the three fingers too are an excellent touch. Very very slightly too dark for my tastes but not enough to stop it being one of my very favourite entries in this challenge.

like the textures and I am not "sold" on the fingers although they create great interest with their shadow
nice response to challenge

A particularly frightening photo, but great idea overall.

Reminds me very much of the knothole in "To Kill a Mockingbird." A nice picture, and I like that the bark doesn't cover the whole frame. The space in the upper left adds some definition.
