| I saw this shot in the contest, but wasn't able to comment on it. It's a great "animal portrait," but I don't get the title: Why does the self-proclaimed new-born wish to be taken to "the holy place" ("heaven")? Is it suicidal? ... |

no - its the flash that caused the puppy to be too bright & harsh, a shallow DoF wouldn't have any effect on the brightness of the subject, just how much of the subject is in focus.

I get the idea here, and I'm all for thinking outside the box, but...
I feel like this challenge called for a certain reverence, which this photo does not give to the topic. |

| hopefully "bring me to the holy place" means something other than what i think it does. it sounds like "please kill me". thats a little off putting. not sure this meets the challenge. |
