Difficult challenge this time... I think it's hard to actively seek such an unpleasant condition. But after a while I started to see through desolation, to the peace and emptiness beneath it. There's a rawness of feeling there as well which reminds us we are alive! I think my picture captures that feeling well... the red in the sky to me symbolises the life-force and hope that will always break through desolation eventually.

I think the border detracts here...and bit of a reach to connect the cemetery with desolation.

This is a good shot if not for the processing artifacts around the tombstone. Nice colors. Good luck.

The colors and the contrast here are what makes me give it a ten. The solid black against the colors really is wonderful.

Beautiful sky. This looks like you may have softened this in Photoshop. I'd like to see the steeples a little sharper.

Cool shot, it looks like you waited for just the perfect moment where the sky was at it's peak of color.

incredible colors! I have never seen the sky that pink! I will be interested to find out if that was some PS adjust or natural.

Oh to live in England where the photo-ops just throw themselves at you!

nice photo, it does not say desolation in any way that I can see

since desolation is very static, still, for me this has too much motion..interesting silhouettes though

Gothic.

There seems to be some distorion due to over sharpening it (see around the cross). The colors are amazing, and the perspective is great.

Cemetary is a bit cliche for this challenge. Even so this does have a forlorn feeling to it. I think it would be better without the the red in the sky. That adds a bit of cheer to the shot which causes confusion of intent. You could have entered this in a contest for "Hope" just as easily. I'm also not too sure about the monument to the far right. It seems tilted at an odd angle, sort of out of place. If you really wanted to go with cemetary as your subject I think you were on the right track but could have had a better shot.

Picture looks oversharpened?
