 For the Holy Places challenge I drove down to the nearby Mission San Juan Capistrano to shoot the fabulous Serra Chapel. Because of the low lighting, it was a challenge to use my tripod to get the exposures just right. While shooting, I noticed this very small side chapel which was quite dramatic. Because it was such a confined space, all the burning candles made it uncomfortably hot inside. St. Peregrine is the patron saint of cancer sufferers.

I shot a lot of different settings, so I had to do very little post-processing. A little bit of rotation because it was slightly tilted. Small tweak of brightness/contrast. Unsharp mask. Crop. Re-size. Save for web.

This is my second submission to DP Challenge.

Good lighting, a little too centered for my tastes, perhaps a closer look at the candles and statues would be more interesting.

I don't know if you could have done anything different with the lighting...I would have liked it better with less shadows.

Too much light in my opinion. If it were just the candle light I think it would be way better.

Really liked this one. I can imagine the light was a challenge, but you pulled it off spledidly. Looks like you really know your camera.

I think it needs some more contrast. Quite symmetrical. I can't decide if that is good or bad. 5
