 Shot from the skydeck of the Sears tower, leaning the camera and tripod against the window with the lens cap touching the glass. This view is obliquely through the window facing the north east. Views from the Sears tower are not as easy to come by as from the John Hancock, IMO. Processed two exposures from RAW, one -1 exposure and the other +0.1. Combined and reprocessed in psd format to adjust curves and levels, increase saturation and apply a very slight perspective correction.

I hesitated for this challenge because I had no creative idea and simply settled for shoe-horning this shot in. Forgive me!

Shot at the May '06 Chicago GTG.

Summer 2006 update. After the Chicago GTG, I was contacted by a graphic design company in the Chicago area who wanted to purchase a limited license for this photo to use in their own customer advertising. I have sold many prints over the last two years, but this was the first time somebody wanted to buy a license. I made $500 in this deal! Woohoo! Bought a lens.

Nice viewpoint; your apartment balcony? It's really very good. I especially like the compression of the streets, as if people and cars would hardly fit in between the buildings. The brilliant green light on the tower anchors everything and prevents the otherwise-compressed scene from looking two dimensional. 7.

I just love it. Cityscapes at night are great. We don't have such high buildings or skycrapers in Holland.

Your photo shows how light permeates Chicago, not darkness. Nice slick photo, but a landscape like that doesn't compel me to watch a movie, especially when the title is off.

with all that light pollution from the buildings I doubt Chicago ever gets permeated by darkness. The scene and title seem to contradict one another.
