Photographer’s Notes
“It was a dark and stormy night,” as they say. But last night around midnight my daughter and I set out to shoot Seattle anyway. Shooting Seattle in the rain presents many interesting photo opportunities, but it isn’t fun. You’ll need to love your art. Shooting Seattle in the cold (below 50F) is less fun still. Add darkness and the precipitous fall from fun continues. But we gave it a go. In the end, I triggered my shutter exactly 3 times over the space of 2 hours.

Looking at the take this morning, I had 2 photos I felt were good enough to work with. The first was a non-traditional shot of the city looking back from the Bell Harbor Conference Center. I liked it but it was just enough over-exposed that I rejected it. I may try again at some point. And the second was a “traditional Space Needle Shot” taken from Kerry Park. It’s a very long exposure and while the shutter was open, an airliner inbound to SeaTac airport had the bad grace to fly through the frame.

I ended up cropping it tighter than I wanted because the light trail was distracting. Too bad I couldn’t use Advanced editing … that pesky light trail would have been history, felled by the clone tool.

I doubt this will win awards, but it’s a decent postcard shot from Seattle. Enjoy.

Hey I was just there not too long ago. This was most likely taken late in the evening as the blue skies are gone. If you move just a tad to the right, the BofA building would have been in full view as well as opposed to being hidden from view. Good capture.

I saw a similar photo in this challenge. The buildings are leaning slightly to the right. Could use more color.

I kind of feel I would like to see more of the building on the right, or it not at all...

good shot and nice angle, but the top of the needle seems alittle blown out
