I like this - I think it captures 'desolation' better than most images here. I think some people mistakenly thought desolation=isolation or dessimation. I would have liked to see more details in the image, perhaps this was a little under exposed, I'm not sure, but the ground seems a little too light. Overall, I like this quite a bit - good luck in the contest. |

This is a nice shot and definately meets the challenge. I would like to see more contrast in the shot so that the details show up better. Also, IMO, when taking a photo like this, I want to have the entire tree in the shot with some breathing room. I imaging that the close crop was due to other items intruding on the scene and you take what you can get, right? |

nice branches and nice shadow...the image as a whole has a muddy quality that doesn't work for me |

You have done this right! Lighting, composition, and overall feeling all say desolation. |
