cool bird in flight.

I really like the mood of this photo and the composition and exposure are great. The only thing that would make it better is if you rotated it CCW just a little bit the level the horizon. Still one of my top 10.

Doesn't really feel like desolation more like vacation time to me. Really like the shot though. Good luck

Seems more inspirational than desolate. It is a nice sunset though.

Beautiful color, gorgeous sunset.

Is a great shoot, but dont feel desolation but peaceful. Maybe in other challenge i will give a better rate.

small amount of rotation could have done a tiny bit ;)
I love the bird flying and the colors of the sky!
good job on sunset, stopped motion, and fauna!

good luck in the challenge.

This pic would be really great if the horizon was level.
The bird is a great compositional feature and the colors and exposure is very nice. The shoreline draws the eye across the frame ending up at the bird, which keeps the eye inside. Nice job, if only the horizon was at the good and natural perceived angle.

Just when I think the pictures can't possible get any better....then yours comes along!!!!! This has got to be one of the most beautiful pictures I've ever seen! A 10 from me.....I'd give you more if I could!! :)

Too idilic to evoke desolation, it should be more crude. the horizon is a bit tilted

What causes the wavy lines above the sun?
08/14/2003 03:29:47 PM
Sorry, this photo is inspiring; not desolate.

Oh but this is too beautiful - it makes me dream of holidays and summer nights and romantic walks and all things wonderful. Ignoring that, since others might see loneliness here, depending on their viewpoints, it's a lovely image, nice focal point in the bird nad nice reflections of light and colour in the water. I like the wavy line of coloured water.

great capture. looks like a lot of quality was lost in the sky area of the pic. I assume that is from resizing and uploading to DPC. Looks great!

wow, beautiiful shot. i see where you are going here, but too nice to be desolate! feels very tranquil.
08/13/2003 04:24:05 PM
such lush light and shapes
08/13/2003 03:50:34 PM
Beautiful twightlight, but it makes me feel more peacful than lonely.
08/13/2003 03:20:16 PM
This really does look very tranquil and quite a content, passive looking scene - remote perhaps, but not at all desolate! A very nice shot and a good capture with excellent focus on the gull - aside from the challenge.
08/13/2003 02:59:10 PM
no desolation here
08/13/2003 01:53:51 PM
not desolate, but a good photo
08/13/2003 12:23:51 PM
great! a slight rotation to the left would make it even better... 7.

There is a weird slope on the horizon, and the lake/sea it seems. Colors are great, and the seagull is great. Also seems like there are some lines in the sky, where the colors change.

very nice photo.. but instead of desolation, it makes me feel comfortable.. :S
i think that it doesnt fit the challenge at all, but its a nice photo.. =)

I get your concept. You got nice colour of the sunset there. i would align the horizon straight though.
