"Mid Air-Climber in His Element" is a wonderful entry into the Environmental Portrait challenge. Wonderful score, very well deserved.

I would say you nailed the Environmental piece, unfortunately I think voters really get picky towards the portrait aspect. I still loved this piece. I think you did an excellent job capturing someone truly in their environment without poising.

I think your composition is cool because you took a different approach. I like the long stretched feel, as well as how dark it gets toward the bottom. The lighting seems just right, which probably wasn't so easy since you were outdoors. The boarders are interesting and I think they add to that stretched feeling to show the perspective of how small the climber is compared to his environment.

Overall this is a very strong image, it almost looks like one of the inspirational posters. Congrats on the new personal best score, it was very well deserved.

Nice choice of light sepia tones, you can see the detail in the rock but it does not take away attention from the climber. I'd like to know where this is.

highly dramatic shot with strong geometrical elements = I like it. even though he is not posing, per se, this is exactly how someone like him would probably want to be portrayed. 8.

Great shot, but not really a portrait IMO.

This shows the environment really well but it's kind of far away from the man to really be a portrait. I do like it though.

AMAZING capture! Lighting is spot on and focus really draws me into the shot. I also like your choice of border. 10 from me.

Oooh! This is pretty cool. The ONLY thing that stopped me giving it a 10 was the fact that this doesn´t appear very set up to me, like you just saw him climbing up there and decided to snap a photo. If he were standing on the wall, looking down at you or something, this would have gotten a 10 from me.

That said though, just added this to my favorites and it got a 9 from me, love everything about this shot.

Nice capture and dramatic post processing. I'm not a fan of heavy borders especially asymmetric ones (prefer thin all the way round or none at all) but I won't penalise you for that... 10!

Outstanding sense of moment. I like that you can see the face. It works extremely well in Black and White.

More of an action shot than a portrait

border is a little heavy for an image so dark to begin with

great shot, really like the mid -air moment you've captured and the scale/composition of the shot.only point detracting from the whole (for me) is the border.I find the disproportions distracting but I'm not going to let that hurt your score !well done.

Let's see, I'm 111 shots in and finally hit my second 9+ (I rarely give 10s first go around). Meets challenge well by actually telling me something about the subject. Great B&W conversion. 9

Hey really good mono treatment. I like the PP as it has resulted in not just a picture of a guy on a rope but of a mood. It has feeling, not just 'stuff'.
