So soft and beautiful. I like the contrast of the pink and black, and the blurred roses in the background. Excellent work. |

pretty, but it's the background that's distracting - I wonder what this would look like if this main flower was set back to look like it's in a spotlight (I like the lighting alot) surrounded by blackness - all by itself. If you are able to try it I hope you post it, I really would like to see it - I hope you post what you did to 'try' out your lighting, I like it. good job. 7 cthenk |

The technique is very good, ligthing is in its place, the color contrast works, but i feel the same i said to the other flower pictures, feels like something i've seen a thounsand times. |

Nice depth of field shot - I like the contrast of the flower with the dark background too. |

Nice, but the DOF is a little lacking, Having so much of the foreground out of focus is not pleasing. Did you try different focal points and different aperatures? |

I have found that the following comment is completely based on my opinion and not necessarily true techical rule. I think you need more DOF and I believe it should start from the front of your subject. For this picture I would have strived to have the DOF encompass the entire flower and then leave the other flowers on the edges of the frame out of focus. |

Nice but background flowers are distracting. |

more depth of field to focus petals in foreground would improve this picture. |

I find the front of the flower distracting. maybe if it were in focus it wouldn't distract so much. |

This is a lovely image.. the contrast is excellent... If the depth of field encompassed the front side of the large flower, I think the impact would be much greater. I feel that the large flower should be almost completely in foucs here. If it was to lose focus, I would feel better about it losing focus on the back side rather than in the foreground... = 6 - jmsetzler |

Nice work. Your practice with light seems to have paid off. Perhaps next time use a larger depth of field? Whatever. Good job. |

How pretty! I'd like to see the petals in the foreground (the top ones, not the base petals) a little sharper, but the light is beautiful, and so is the composition. The hint of roses in the back makes this dream-like. |

Pity the top front petals are out of focus. |

Side shot of broad flower needs wider DOF. Near petals out of focus. I like the arrangement, color, framing. 6 Swash |

Good practice:) Usually I would comment on the limited depth of focus, but with your picture, it adds to the mood. Very well done. |

The lighting is nice...really emphasizes the soft colors of the flower. I think though that if you have a limited depth of field, it's usually better to focus on the closest element ...the nearest petals in this case. The soft ones in front seem to detract from the sharper ones in back. |

I wish I'd already learned what you obviously have! Simply fantastic lighting technique. Now sahrpen the focus in the foreground and my 10 is yours! As it stands...9 crisa58 |
