Challenge: Still Life II (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Fujifilm FinePix S7000
Location: Wyke, West Yorkshire, England
Date: May 14, 2006
Date Uploaded: May 14, 2006

I was just thinking of a play on words with 'still life' while I was looking at the garden and noticed some snails. Hmm, I thought....almost still. Just some contrast and brightness and then cropped in a bit. I'm pretty new to all this so any feedback is welcome, buit I'm quite happy with the result for my first comp entry.

almost doesn't cut it for me... also, I think I would have gone for a slightly larger depth of field. All in all, nice attempt.

Very cool (and gross?)

Almost, but not quite is right.

Cute, funny, I like it, but it doesn't seem to me strongly to fit the still life theme.

This does not meet the challenge - not inanimate and not an arranged composition of objects.

Nicely captured. Good lighting and texture. In a perfect world I would have loved to have the eyes in focus as well as the body but otherwise great photo.

a little blurry and over-exposed....but other than that, cool idea!

DNMC-no use of arranged inanimate objects.

I like the texture of the snail, but feel the focus could be sharper. The lighting seems to have been too strong on the shell.

Like mine, it isn't exactly still life but a little outside the box.
As technically, it dnmc (don't you hate that?) I took 1 off plus another because the dof is too shallow for my taste leaving you with 4.

Cute idea, but it doesn't really fit in this category. It's also fuzzy, which is probably normal since it's such a close-up shot, but when a picture is out-of-focus it really detracts from it.

doesn't work

I gave this photo a 1 because it didn't seem to me to fulfill my expectation of a "still life," a classic form of artfully arranged objects. Call me narrow minded but that's the way I see it.

Focus/depth is not quite what it should be, and the lighting needs some balance. Also do not feel this meets the challenge.
