 I didn't even know about the contest till today, but I thought I would submit one of my pictures that I took Friday.

Lighting seems a bit harsh and the composition seems a little haphazard.The background is also a bit distracting (bright on top right and dark on bottom left without real reason). But there is potential here. Very pretty.

The background makes this seem more found than arranged.

A still life generally brings together a number of elements arranged into a pleasing grouping. A closeup doesn't allow for the element of the arrangement to come into play.
