Challenge: Lenscap (Basic Editing III)
Camera: Canon EOS-300D Rebel
Location: my house
Date: May 16, 2006
Aperture: f/4
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/15 sec
Galleries: Humorous, Self Portrait
Date Uploaded: May 16, 2006

Last minute entry b/c I was bored tonight. Self portrait b/c there's no one else around. By the way, I'm getting tired of self-portraits b/c it's hard to focus on my face when my face is behind the camera :)

I'm getting some pixilating on my face and I don't know why - looks like oversharpening, but appears before any sharpening is done. If anyone can solve this problem I'd appreciate it.

Editing: crop, desat all channels but red and yellow, USM

The lighting & composition need a bit of help.

Two other pirates, both were better than this.

i like it an all, but there is to much blank wasted space up top which hurts the score, but you still get a 4, sorry man

I think that this photo could benefit from a square crop. Nice lighting.

It is a good idea, as you can see by the other pirate shots.
For a plain background, it is too much of the picture. I think that chopping the top 1/3 off would be an improvement.
The lighting on the face is okay but the rest of it is flat. You also get an unfortunate shadow from her chin. Artificial lighting is a mystery to me and so I use almost entirely natural light (my unsolicited admission).
IMO, the lens cap is too big for the model's face. Also, I may be missing the purpose, but I don't know why she appears to be topless.

Very odd lighting and crop, imo.

hmm, wish she was wearing a pirate's get-up... nice sharp focus though
