this is a nice image, it fits the challenge perfectly. I think the image is just a bit overexposed, you've lost some details in the flame, composition is good, postprocess is good, but could do with a little burning where ther wrist is showing, it's a bit destracting.
I think you did a good job with this image, and scored accordingly. |

Hey there from the Critique Club
Well, it happened again. I added a critique from the Trading Post, and pulled yours to critique from the Critique Clube cue. So, I will echo what I have already said earlier.
Camera Work/Technical: Great focus on the hand while still showing the motion of the fire. The colors are also very nice, adding a nice warmth beyond the obvious heat of the capture.
Lighting: Also very well captured. Your use of flash is terrific to the point that I can't even tell that the flash was used. This is a very strong element in this particular photograph. You did a tremendous job just filling in enought to capture the detail of the hand without losing anything from the flame.
Composition/Content: The centered composition works very well for this capture. The hand position in great and just enough of the arm is viewable to keep the eye moving up the entire frame.
My Opinion: Wee envisioned and well captured. While a 6.1 is nothing to scoff at, I think that this one should have scored much better.

Trading Post Comment
I thought this shot had great lighting on your hand and a bit less successful capture of the flame (probably because of the shutter speed used). Overall, though, I marveled how you could do this without burning yourself. I scored it a 6 and would have gone higher if the flame had been crisper near the top. |

This is a great shot; the composition and lighting is spot on, and it has that extra "ouch" factor. hehe. I'm impressed at your bravery/stupidity :P Don't really have much to add, its a great shot so well done |

Trading post...
This is an excellent shot! I can't believe you didn't get burned. I didn't vote in this challenge but would have given you at least an 9 for the danger factor. |

Trading Post comment
First of all, I'm amazed you didn't burn yourself. You do know you're certifiable, right? I think this was a pretty good execution of your idea. I realize since you were behind the viewfinder holding your hand out front, you couldn't much change the angle, but I think had you had the hand turned more so that the flame was between the thumb and first finger for the viewer, it might have been more effective. Though I don't know why I think that. The only other nit - flame doesn't seem to be as crisply focused as it could be.
Edit to add I love Aimee's comment.

Obviously the flame is not hot. An illusion, yes. But a symbol of heat, no. None-the-less, it is a nicely designed image. 7. |
