Hi! Hereâs a comment from the Critique Club.
First Impression:
My eyes went to the mans face then to the girls face. Expressions are excellent. Lotâs of attitude.
Composition:
The wall and the tree contribute well to the âfailureâ to communicate subject. Works as a metaphorical barrier as well. By having their backs to each other but both looking over their shoulders really supports the mood. I also like the fact that the girl is sitting with a defiant posture and the man is standing with his hands in his pockets.
Subject:
Meets challenge well
Technical:
Sensor dust!
I find the focus a little soft despite your post processing
Summary:
Ok I didnât mean to be disrespectful, (either way)â¦.but I read the comments after I write my critique. I thought the subject was between father and daughter. I have a 24 year old daughter, so I related to her with this shot. (Doesnât change the comments, just my point of reference)
I really like the emotive capture and congrats on the 6+ score

Hey - your wife will be happy to know...I thought she was your teenage daughter :-) And that the premise was a failure for the parents and kids to communicate.
Congrats on your top 20, and kudos to your portfolio work which is the talk of the forums...keep up the good work.

Not voting this challenge, but just wanted to say I like this image a lot. The mood captured is perfect, as is the composition, and the fit to challenge is wonderfully creative. I hope it does well.
P.S. I think you could have some sensor dust. |

You really nailed it here with the looks on their faces. The wall adds a physical barrier to their communication. Even without a title, "failure" is apparent. |

Nice composition and a very interesting way to present failure. I think that it works very well. It seems like your focus is a hair off, and it's definitely time to clean that sensor. |
