::: Critique Club :::
Hi, my name is Kari and from the critique club.
First Impression - the most important one:
First entry ... you done good.
Composition:
This is a little centered to me ... cropping off some of the blank space of the left .. and getting the flower on the the thirds would have helped this shot .. and enhanced what the eye is looking for - a point of focus.
Subject:
Success is self determined . .what works for some doesn't for others ... this is a fine interpretation.
Technical (Colour and light):
This is where things get murky. You really needed something in focus .. and since the flower is the thing we are looking at .. it needed to be more in focus. The flying buds did not ... the stem seems to be the focus point .. so it is about getting the camera to focus slightly up from where it did. the bright areas at the back of the picture .. don't really add anything to this shot .. so trying different crops may also help.
To grow its vote?:
Try and try again .. that is what it is about .. I always ask .. will someone else get this .. does it say enough in the picture itself.
Summary:
good work .. a lovely first entry .. keep shooting entering and learning.

wonderful lighting here ... i get this ... but for some reason it just doesn't grab my eye like I want it to ... I think perhaps if the flower itself were in focus but the seed blur was the same .... I realize that was probably impossible but I'm just statin my humble opinion. |

Pretty, but I think it needs a tighter crop. |
