An obvious nod to Kiwiness the match-meister! I dont expect for it to do that well, but the pyromaniac in me had a blast.

Background was fake-velvet, shot with my sigma flash at 90 degrees to the lens, reflecting onto a mirror about 8inches away, then a homemade 'tin foil' reflecter the other side, with the matches inbetween the two. I was surprised how well it worked!

Went through 3 boxes of matches till I got the shot I wanted, I tried more fancy things, but it wasnt as effective. Timing was pretty hard as it went up so fast. If I get into the mid-5's I'll be landed.

A good idea... Maybe there's a bit too much smoke. Also, it's not easy to shoot fire.

I like the crisp focus on the matches. The cropping seems a bit close for my eye, would have liked a bit more room on either side. Additionally, I wonder if a faster shutter would have given more impact to the flame.

You need to reduce noise in the shot. also a more even lineup would look nicer

Great idea and lovely capture. had you thought about having the lighting sequence reveresed? the burnt matches are higher than the unlit one and the falme is drifting to the right. The lighting sequence may flow better left to right with the flame catching the next match more naturally - or am I just over thinking the whole composition:-)

Nice detail in the flame and matches. Kind of gimmicky, though.
