I shot this with a slower shutter speed to get the movement of the flames, essentially blurring them to let the sharp focus on the marshmallow stand out more.
My original idea was to shoot this over a camp fire. Unfortunately it has rained for days one end and all the wood it too wet to burn without creating too much smoke. So, my backup plan was put into motion - using charcoal in the bottom of a small grill after dark. Everything worked out as planned other than the stomache ache factor I forgot to figure in from eating too many toasted marhsmallows. Couldn't let a good fire go to waste. :-P

I really liked the image during voting, it reminded me of my childhood and the yummy melted marshmallow and chocolate biscult sandwiches we would make ... I scored this to the memories that it invoked as I think that pictures at times should invoke memories and those ones were fantastic.

Hello from the Critique Club. My name is Jon Rowe, and I will be looking at your picture today

I like this image, but i think the marshmellow could have been brought out a little bit with some dodging. i really like the flames. they are on the way to being overexposed, but you captured them well. you did a very nice job with this. great score. this is a great addition to your already impressive portfolio.

good luck on your future challenges!

The burnt bits on the marshmallow really make this shot - it gains a sense of reality.
