To get this shot, I strung up a bunch of peppers and hung them over the pan - thought it would be easier than capturing stop action, but this turned out to be one of the most complicated and involved set ups I've ever done. (Although that's not really saying that much, since I'm still a beginner.) For the lighting on the bottom of the pan, I used one red light and one blue one.
Post editing involved cropping, rotating, levels, color balance, saturation, unsharp mask and cloning out the strings and some of the more distracting reflections in the side of the pan. Also used the lighting effects filter on the top left pepper to brighten it up, as it was mostly in shadow.
A special thanks to my mom for this one, for the use of her pan, WD-40 and pretty much all of the lamps in her house. |

Hello from the Critique Club, I'm Jon Rowe, and I will be looking at your image today :)
This is a great shot. i really enjoyed this, captures the moment well. i like the intensive setup you went through on this, paid off well. 6.3102! great score!
the only thing i can even possibly think of to nitpick on this is the blown highlight on the back ridge of the pan, but it really does not detract very much. i like the "heat" red coming from the bottom, as well. very well thought out image.
well done.
good luck in your future challenges :)

I supose the question is did you lay the peppers on the floor, hang them from the ceiling or pin them on the wall? (don't tell me you actually tossed them from the pan lol).
A well set up shot, nicely focussed and well composed/lit, the red on the bottom of the pan finishes off the meeting of the challenge well. Good luck and a little bump to help you ;) |

Lots of heat in this photo! I like how you got the red reflection on the bottom of the pan, symbolizing heat below. Nice focus and contrast. |
