Challenge: Architecture III (Advanced Editing IV)
Camera: Canon EOS-5D
Lens: Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM
Location: Bæjarháls, Iceland
Date: May 28, 2006
Aperture: 11
ISO: 100
Shutter: 5 sec
Galleries: Urban, Architecture
Date Uploaded: May 28, 2006

Last minute submission, this is taken about 45 minutes past midnight, about 3 hours before the deadline and technically taken the 29th of May here in Iceland but of course within the deadline (otherwise I wouldn´t have been able to submit it, duh!) Taken at 16mm with a polarizer filter.

Some healing brush to remove a lamppost, clare in the water and dust spots. Increased dynamic range by a raw double exposure from a single file and then blending them together. Added some vignetting afterwards as there was some apparent up in the right corner from the polarizer to even it out. Increased contrast with curves and sharpened after resizing.

Perspective and angle create energy, good colors and interesting effect of contrast.

Don't care for the angle. Otherwise this would have been one of the higher scoring. Nice lights and reflection, things seem to balance... just the angle is not condusive to showing off the architecture.

A nice dynamic perspective.

Nice photo. I would like to see a shot from the same angle with a level horizon to compare the two. I like the lighting and colors.

This is an interesting looking building, but too much of it is too black. The tilt seems gimmicky and doesn't add anything to the picture.

Using a new formula....
Meets the Challenge = 2
Technical Merit = 2
Holds Interest = 1
Creativity = 0 (hate the "lean")
The "wow factor" = 0
Final score: 5

I'm not usually fond of radical angles in architecture shots, but this one really works! Great colors and shadows. Maybe a ribbon in your future? ;-) 10

Daring, contrasty, dramatic and unusual composition (I really like the composition - with that bright light at the top corner anchoring the sweep on the building!). While it is hard to see architectral details, you do get a tremendous sense of shape and form and presence and I think that is the point here. Bumping up - 9

Love the angle. Very "out of the box".
