Trilliums are my favourite wild flower. :) Yes, the stick should be cropped or cloned out, and you might want to work with curves or similar to enhance the contrasts. You might want to think about shooting at a larger aperture size next time, so that more of the background is in bokeh (more is blurry). This usually makes the subject pop out of the picture in a beautiful way. Unless they work really well or are a very important part of the picture, cluttered backgrounds can be a bit distracting. Also try making your subject a bit off-centre in the frame, as it tends to add much interest. Search for "rule of thirds" on Google to learn what makes a very pleasing composition. This picture is beautiful and sharp and in focus, and presents a lovely example of a beautiful flower, so it's well done.

It's a nice photo, but I would go with the rule of thirds and shift the center of the flower to the right and at the same time try to eliminate that branch in the corner.

Colours on this shot are lovely! I agree with the others about the distracting stick....if you get a chance go out and reshoot. It's a lovely flower, one I haven't seen before.

Nice crisp, clean shot. I tend to agree with Diamond that the stick in the upper right is a bit distracting. You could get rid of most of it with a tight crop.

Also there is yellowish stick below the flower, that jumps out once the stick in the upper right is cropped out.

The only other thing I might have done would be to darken (contrast) the background a bit more using levels to make the flower really snap.

Hey there, welcome to the site first of all. As the others have said below, the stick definitely needs to be cropped out. It really takes away focus from the beautiful flower. I think you did a great job with the exposure on this shot. The colors are nice and the detail on the white flower is very good. Many times, white will get too blown out or over-exposed, so you lose the detail, which you were able to capture nicely. My biggest suggestion moving forward would be to practice your post processing skills in programs such as the Adobe Photoshop products. They make a huge amount of difference. Before I joined this site, I had used Photoshop some, but never harnessed the power of the product with my photography until this year. More than anything else, be sure to have fun.

the stick up right is a bit distracting, the placement should be looked at with a more critica eyes when approaching the subjet. try thirds to start, this central works better when you have a much tighter crop, or when you're shooting through some out of focus elements to bring you in from the edges.

One of my favorite flowers! I have a trillium on my PaD site ... it's linked from my portfolio or you can PM me if you can't find my trillium picture. Your colors are spot on. You might want to test a crop with the trillium a little off center, too. That often helps add a little drama to a shot such as this. Keep posting your shots!
