I misread the basic editing rules of using a single photo only. This picture would not have been feasible without either a ND Grad or multiple exposures/HDR in PS. I want to thank all of you who voted for this picture.
I will be careful of this rule in my next entry.
Thanks
Amit
PS: If I read the basic editing rule correctly, even if I had used the ND Grad, it would have been DQ'd? Is this understanding correct? |
A filter placed on the camera is fine but the equivalent effect carried out in editing is not.
Nice pic by the way.

Yep, yer totally gettin DQ'd. Next time, grab the ND filter and read the rules. |

Shot at Page, AZ just after a retreating storm. 3 shots using AEB and merged using PS HDR. No time to grab the gradND filter.
Think it still came out well...and talk about timing as I was drenched wet during this shot.
Am I reading your description correctly that you took three separate photographs and merged them in Photoshop to create this single image? This is a gorgeous image, but if that's how you did it, that's not within the rules. |

One of my favorites! You nailed the exposure; I really like the sun rays coming through the clouds. I have this placing top 3....Good Luck! |

Nice picture of Horseshoe Bend. Good technical quality, nice color processing and you are lucky to find clouds in the sky. :) Without a wide angle lens it is impossible to get the whole thing in the frame. Hope you are not taking it on the chin from folks that don't see a frame and think it is being... wellllll... "horseshoehorned" into the challenge. LOL! I'm betting that you and the person who took the Antelope Canyon picture were on a photo safari together. :) |

Dang - that is a GORGEOUS photograph. I am not worthy. I hope you will share all the details of how you took the shot and procesed it so the rest of us can learn. I hardly give any tens (most challenges I top out around "8"). But this is a "10" and a fave. |

This is quite striking; but it would be SO Much more powerful if the arc of the river were completed in the foreground... |

Wonderful, great colours. I would have liked to see the complete loop of the river though. |

Great picture. Good colours. I like the way the sun rays are shining through the clouds. Would have liked to see the river where it has been cropped of at the bottom of the picture. |

Trul;y a magnificent place. In 6your photo, the lighting looks like it was very difficult, but you've done a good job with it. My only quibble with it is that I feel the bottom is cropped too much - I'd like to see thewhole of the river round that bendy bit. ;>) |

The best photo I have seen that might not be framing. I am torn on this one. On the one hand it is sweet, on the other hand it is a stretch for the framing... |

excellent wide angled shot but I would really loved to have seen the bottom of the river so that we could see the whole "frame" even if you lose some of the sky. |

Lovely light - like someone up above is shining a spotlight. Lovely colour and reflections in the water help it stand out and create contrast with the wonderfully textured rock surfaces. |

spectacular shot...your title is the only indication that there is a frame here...so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt because, while it's a great shot, I can't see a frame in the foreground framing what's in the background until your title mentioned the river |

Not sure if it's just me, but I think the sky looks a little tilted. Nice colors. |
