Power outages are a way of life in New Orleans these days. The moon was out, so I though I'd play with the camera when there was no streetlights. This was one of the shots.

Hello from the critique club,

A very creative shot with a cool title. The moon behind the unlit streetlamp gives it an eerie luminosity that makes you look twice. I like the composition with the negative space filling the bottom and middle of the frame. It gives the image a great sense of height.

I like the way the perspective distorts the vertical line of the street lamp. I might have exaggerated it with a little more tilt and having the lamp meet the bottom corner of the frame. Other than that, I can't think of much that I would suggest to change this.

I think your score probably suffereed because the 'shadow' is not obviously the subject of the image. I think this should have scored higher.

CHeers,
Liza

Perhaps my monitor needs adjustment as I see no shadow in this image.

and the shadow?

Is this really a shadow? Good idea though... perhaps same concept but different challenge.

i spent a minute trying to figure out how this was done and i've got nothing. unless it was some kind of lightsource that looks like a street lamp pointed down and we are seeing it from the top. interesting silhouette

Simple, in fact, too simple... without the title it would be almost unexplainable, IMHO. Sorry, not a winner.

Hmm - more a siloutte than shadow?

This looks more like a silhouette than a shadow.
