I absolutely love the gentleness of this photo; the colours and subtle shades are divine.
If anything I might crop a touch tighter on the right, because for one thing the darkness on the left just fades away, and secondly because the rays of light would be travelling across the whole frame more.
The border fits well, and all in all is a lovely shot |

This shot is superb. While I suspect some did not think the shadows were the focal point, and I guess they are right, I love the interplay of light and shadow and would have scored this an 8 had I not been on a trip and been unable to get online. The colors are terrific too. This would have worked exceptionally well in the green challenge as well.
I like the lighting (duh) and I also like the placement of the walk. While I might ordinarily use the rule of thirds to shift it to one side, in this instance I like your decision to put it down the middle. It's leading lines take my eye right into the shafts of light. I also like the tonal quality of the greens. You have a good range of green, from light leaves to detailed shadows. Well done, I'd say. |

this is a very nice image, but as a shadow challenge entry I think the shadows need to be more interesting, this would have scored even higher in a daylight challenge.
the composition is a bit off, I would have liked to see the path on either side of the image, but not in the center. that lonely tree helps with the composition, without it it would be just bad.
I think this could have been a good entry for the GREEN challenge :)
lighting is great, can't get any better when you can see the rays of light through the trees. |

Trading post...
Very nice capture. I gave this a 7 in voting. Obviously it has shadows, but I didn't think it really was about the shadows though. The light rays seem to be what the picture was about. I don't see any real room for improvement, if this was a different challenge it would have gotten a much higher vote from me. |

This was indeed one of my favorites in the challenge - I gave you an 8. I love this kind of light/shadow play and it's ever so challenging to capture the rays without washing out parts. Your choice of the angle for composition with only a bit of sky really helps in that respect, I think. Nice choice of a very lush green setting, too. I was thinking maybe you could crop a bit off the left, but when I tried that, I didn't like it as well. It seems nicely balanced as is. Another 6+, another good placing. Even if you did steal the wife's shot and she beat you anyway. :-) |

This is more about the lighting than the shadow but it works. |

Awesome natural shadow work... Very cool picture. It should be placed in first 5, if not one of the ribbons ;) |
