I know this has been said before, but I feel the same way. This is a bit flat. The shadow alone meets the challenge but lacks punch. I didn't vote because of my trip, but I would have given this a 5, possibly a 4.

I like the idea of creating an atmosphere just through a shadow, but I think its a little bland as it is. Most of the photos in this challenge that were just a shadow on a flat surface I think needed something more to add some depth.
The texture of the wood works well, but it seems as though the dof is too narrow, leaving the righthand side a tad OOF.
Also, I'm not sure how to improve this, but the posture seems a little posed.

Tradin gPost - I scored this a 4. The straight on shadow didnt carry much beyond meeting the challenge of shooting a shadow. Too soft around the edges and the background/wall draws away from it as well. I think if mayeb you had shined more light and cut down the shutter speed you would have had a more crisp shadow - but I am not sure how much that would have helped your score.

I have to agree with some of the other comments, a picture of a straight shadow rarely is interesting, this is not one of them.

I think a wider angle would have helped, to get the shadow to the right side of the image, and maby show a shadow of the bed on the left, I think that would have shown the message better.

the shadow is a bit to soft, more contrast might help in getting sharper edges on the shadow.

Trading post...
You went for the straight shadow, as did I, but at least you didn't get hammered as bad for it. I have to admit that I gave you a 5 in voting as it just didn't feel interesting. It was obvious that it was a young girl, but other than that, just a shadow. So, we both learned something with this one. Don't do it again, LOL!

Trading Post comment:

Definitely meets the challenge, but lacks a little in interest other than meeting the challenge. The silhouette is pleasing, but I think it might have been better on a softer surface since your model is a delicate young woman (it appears she is here - she may be a total tomboy for all I know!) I also think it might have been nice to see just a bit of the caster of the shadow, ie find an angle such that you get just a bit of her hands or maybe the back of her head. Another way to add some interest would be to have something in the shot, such as the edge of the bed or a nightstand with some flowers on it or such.

Good idea and use of a different pose to the others.

Sorry, I've been staring at it for a while but I don't really get the message.
