I didn't actually vote this one as I wasn't sure it was actually shadows but computer generated. (I don't vote low on ones I feel DNMC because it might and I don't see it) Well done, however I did not care for the coloring. Sorry |

Like the original also. Thanks for your details on making the picture. My picture was also validated during the challenge, felt bad while it was happening, but good afterwards... Guess this is something you get used to :o) Nice work you are doing, very creative :o) |

Here are the basic steps. The figures in parentheses after the Curves are (Input=Output) values for the control points on the Curves graph.
-Printed out some question marks of various sizes and gray tones on clear film. Hung it up with some pants hangers, and used a standard swing-arm desk lamp to shine through it onto a whiteboard.
-Handheld, macro mode.
-Tungsten white balance
-Cropped, slight rotation
-Retouched a couple of small reflections near the top
-RGB Curve to improve contrast (29=12) (67=78)
-Individual Red, Green and Blue Curves to achieve the colorization
--Red: (0=100) (25=5) (56=62) (74=100)
--Green: (8=0) (69=72)
--Blue: (0=100) (6=76) (74=98) (96=10)
-Resized for DPC
-USM at 88%/16 dia/TH = 0
-SaveAs JPEG at quality 7/10 = 125kb
Resized original:
Thanks everyone, for a great batch of comments! |

You,re definately thinking outside of the box with this photo. I wonder what the voters who can't think out of the box will think. |

This is too close to digital art for my taste. Although this image may have started in a camera, I do not think of this as a photograph. |

You had to get this validated??? The challenge never specified what kind of shadow. I'm actually surprised more people didn't do it. Good news is not only did your photo convey shadow of a doubt...it was shadow of a doubt...Good job. |

bit too psycheadelic possibly; and regrettably it does feel like it's been post-processed to within an inch of its life - would imagine it's too digital looking for a lot of voters. not sure it strictly fits the challenge; i see there's shadows, but they could just as easily be black question marks. it's certainly creative and original (and brave, here), and merit should be awarded for that. i keep thinking with some polishing, and maybe a squarer crop, it would make a good record sleeve. 5. |

Not sure what to think of this one. To me it looks like a graphic design, not a photograph...but it does create doubt! :) |

Clever...I'm not really seeing this as a photograph though. It looks more like digital art or design to me. |

I like the 3-D effect, but the "shadows" look manufactured, not cast by light. |
