This is really a beautifully composed shot. The lighting is a little harsh, but the composition more than makes up for any failings there. Have you experimented with the lighting settings in processing (i.e., backlighting, midtones, shadows, etc.)? I think this could pop even more with a little more contrast. |

Of course this is really just a picture of someone else's artwork - you just took a fairly routine picture of it. |

Hello from a former Saratogian. The 7th shot I ever took with a 35 mm (back in 1976) was at this memorial. (Yours is much better!!) Here's another possible shot for you, should you choose to accept it.
Under the footbridge to SPAC is a hill that has built up over the years from a sulphur-heavy spring. The 5th shot I ever took was there, and is one of my favorite, if imperfect, pictures. sulphur hill reflection

Hi there..
It's a great shot..
Love the composition and framing.
Might want to lighten the picture a little.
Regards,
Eric Wong. |

yea.. you motivated me too...im loving the composition.. but i think that shadow down on the bottom is a tad distracting... the light seems.. maybe a little harsh... would have been softer near dusk... i really do love this though.. the background is great, just encompasses around your subject... nice shot... |

OK, your post has motivated me...
I like the contrast in this image, the dark onlight. I can see some yellow tones in this, but I wonder how it would have been in black and white? A slight levels adjustment would have brought some brick detail out (the lines between the bricks). As this is not a well known monument, it would be nice to see more of the words at the top...
Also compositionally, she seems to be a little too centered for my personal tastes. I see the compositon you chose was to include both arms, but that leaves the majority of her nearly dead center.
It is an interesting image, but a little tweaking might have improved it for me. That's just me, though...
Take care,
JD Anderson |

I would like to see this shot taken at different times of the day with differing light on it. just a thought. |

Good photo, I especially like the way the statue is so much darker than the background. It really is highlighted and stands out from the background, good one! |

I particularly like how the wings are practically invisible except in shadow! This is a very nice image! |
