 Fort Vasquez near Platteville, CO. Established in 1837 by Louis Vasquez and Andrew Sublette. Maintained as a post until 1842 for trading of buffalo robes and beaver pelts with the Arapahoe and Cheyenne Indian nations. Also for a rendezous for furtrappers. Located on the Platte River and served as a post for emigrants during the gold rush of 1859.

Although the sun gives the walls a nice orange tint, the shadows cast by the low sun are distracting from the overall image.

Hmm, it is the light which makes this shot. And in the vain I would like to see it as a vertical shot with the shadowed section cropped out, at least on the right side. I like the arbutus tree on the left too.

Dramatic shot, excellent lighting. I'd like it more with the trees on the right not breaking up the line of the fort.
