Well, thank you to everyone who commented. I definately received a ton of comments about the border. In hind sight, it was a total brain dead idea to add the border. I just felt the picture was lacking something. It was, but the border wasn't the solution. I think it needed a harvester or something. Anyway, thanks again for all the comments.

I am sure you will get lots of comments on your border. I don't find it enhances the photo at all, in fact it is quite distracting. I would like to see more DOF in your photo, as it is now most of it is not in focus. The sky looks splotchy. The colours in the field are good, though.

Nice colors and certainly desolate to me, but the border is a bit distracting.

I don't usually complain about borders but this one really bothers me. This would probably have looked better with a plainer border closer to the edge.

This is one instance where the framing method detracts significantly (in my opinion) from the picture.

The border kills the shot for me

Normally, borders aren't really a big deal to me. A good one on the right image, can really enhance the presentation sometimes. Other than that, they are just there. Fine. But in this case, the black border thing I feel is detrimental to this photo. It just doesn't seem to have any purpose, and is just really strongly drawing attention to it, and away from the photo.

great picture, except I'm sure others have mentioned the border. I think it would be better without it. Also, not sure if the subject relates to the catagory. Doesn't really make me think of desolation

possibly a better photo without the border?

I'm not going to criticise the border, but I feel you might have added it because you felt the image lacked something. I think it did too - a nice bold subject to contrast those lovely bands of colour.
