Camera: Fujifilm FinePix A345

A dressage rider taking a riding lesson on her mare...I happened to have just finished riding, had my little Fuji camera with me and took a few pictures of her...didn't like the color image as much as a b&w conversion: cropped, levels, curves, cloned out top of riding crop and a few highlights in her breeches, usm, brightess/contrast. Also, just because I know something will be said about the rider's face being blurred, it is important to realize that as I panned the camera with the horse, the rider was sitting in the saddle and relatively immobile, yet her head was moving with the motion of the trot.

Something in this photo needs to be in focus, like the rider or the horse's face. As is, the motion doesn't enhance the photo because it just looks accidental.

A nice sense of motion with the backround and foreleg blur.

I can't help but feel that it might have worked better in colour. There would surely have been some very rich browns and greens to work with.

Either the subject or the background should be blurred, but not both.

Quite nice. Tones are very nice. I wonder if a tiny adjustment to shutter speed would have put the rider in sharper focus while still maintaining blur on the horse's legs. Easier said than done, no doubt. Just a thought. I like to have some sort of stasis in a motion picture by way of counterpoint.

Would give you a higher score if the subject was in focus.
