Working on a new B&W process....

Too contrasty? Too dark? Too "what the heck were you thinking"?

Come on, share your thoughts. You know you want to! :-)

yeah i think maybe the body shadows are a little overdone relative to her face. i'm guessing you dodged the midtones in her face? her body has huge contrast, but then the light on her face looks a bit flat. if You's gonna dodge the midtones, ya gots ta dodge the highlights a little too to get the contrast back.

the pose is good, the shallow DOF is awesome, and i think you caught a good expression. lighting on days like this is nasty, so in that regard i think you did a very nice job, j.

What the heck where you thinking?? :)

I think it looks cool on the skin on her body but makes her eyes to dark. Not sure it's the right process for this shot just because it seems to take away from the beauty of her face, might work better if she wasn̢۪t looking at the camera.

Nice contrast! B&W is something my wife and I are playign with at the moment so if you care to share your technique here that'd be great! Good work!

Lacks a really deep range of tone, and the shadows are marred by a little too much noise, but other than that, I think you're on the right track.. especially for an almost mid-day bright sun shot.

B&W in digital is such a chore sometimes.

WOW this is great - how'd I miss this one? Love the deep contrasts.

I think the exaggerated contrast works really well here. It adds a very nice shape and definition to where her torso and hips meet. I would agree with Ecce Signum though, about having the hip less cropped.

coming from my 1-4-0 thread..

Jennifer, have never taken glamour type shots (just looked at them lol) so I guess my views will be of the wrong type? (and bitching from you whooping my ass in the LoD!)

First off, a good looking model with a great figure :) nice dof but feel a lower angle would work better and I always hear its all in the eyes? I'd prefer wide open eyes and a beaming smile for this type of shot. My last thought is her bikini bottom is cut off and think this would be improved if there was more of her (nice) hips showing, maybe if you were lower and to the right more it would have more impact.

The contrast is great. The intensity of the contrast makes me think it was a really hot summer day. If you would have me nitpick ;) maybe the shadows are just a tad too dark under torso, but I do like it as is. It could work both ways I guess.

Great work, I do like the overall look here.
