Hi Thanks for choosing my picture!! The original picture is the same but with a white washed out sky. If you want to see how color was affecting the shot (shot in b/w) I've tried with a colored sky. See my photosig portfolio at //www.photosig.com/go/users/viewportfolio?id=80068.
Thanks to all and all comments welcome!

First of all it's a very striking image! It has a great eye catching impact with the child emerging from the tunnel into the 'real' world. It's definately a image that will make people stop and take another look.
However; the more I look at it the more I'm drawn to the background. The clouds and trees are a little too surreal for my taste. I think it may be because of the editing AND removal of color. IMHO leaving the color in (perhaps muted) would have given it a more realistic look.
On the other hand...If you WERE trying to make it a surreal image I think that you could have made a more dramatic statement by leaving the colors in and exagerating them.
Would really like to know where this is and what the original shot looked like!
Excellent job!

very dramatic and powerful image, with the threatening clouds. Maybe entering into the 'fantastic' (vs realistic) end of the scale due to the heavy manipulation. I wonder if a more subtler approach would be as effective or have a different impact ? |

I have to agree this is an amazing shot. I love the stance of the little boy and where he is in the shot, very well done. |

Magic! That the perspective is so sympathetically synced to that of the lil guy, makes for a sensitive presence. Road, shadows, the precipitate drainage as well as the IR'd (?) trees 'lead' toward a wonderfully dramatic sky.
Effects seem to have been applied sparingly, and in such a way as not to 'rob the image'. Ah, I'd like to see more of this... :-)
